One of the town's historic homes is now home to some of the latest in medical technology.

Tillsonburg Laser Clinic opened at 87 Bidwell Street in late March after extensive renovations to the building. Just 100 years old, the building was formerly the home to lawyer John Holmes and Royal LePage Wood Realty. Registered massage therapist Angela Moore also works in the clinic. Ashley Anderson is the clinic esthetician.

The clinic is owned by Paul Van Hooydonk and wife Cindy Winter. Cindy is also clinic director.

Laser therapy offered by the company can be broken down into two areas, aestehetic and therapeutic.

Some of the cosmetic options available include skin tightening, skin rejuvenation, vascular therapy and hair removal. The Cutera Xeo laser, which won the American Dermatology Association laser of the year award, is used at the clinic.

"It's the same laser used by many of today's Hollywood stars," Winter said.

Theralase laser technology can penetrate four inches into tissue for therapeutic purposes. Therapeutic laser therapy can address a wide diversity of problems. It aids with the healing process if a patient has arthritic, soft tissue injuries or degenerative damage, carpal tunnel syndrome and can help cure smoking addiction.

Employee Jennifer Watts will also be administering therapeutic laser treatments.

Tillsonburg Laser Clinic also deals with botox/fillers injectibles, sclerotherapy (for varicose veins) and mesotherapy. Mesotherapy has been in use in Europe for cellulite reduction since the 1960s.

"It's way safer than liposuction," Winter said. "Mesotherapy addresses cellulite reduction by breaking down fat cells and draining them through the lymphatic system."

Dr. Vincent Van Hooydonk will handle overflow from the pain clinic he runs at the hospital at the clinic.

Dr. Jacquie Crosby, a surgeon at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, is a more recent addition to Tillsonburg Laser Clinic's staff, and will be starting in November. She will be working in the clinic completing mole and skin tag removal for cosmetic purposes through a process called cyrotheraphy. She will also be overseeing injectibles.
